We have two dedicated Endoscopy units and are proud that both have achieved JAG status – an accreditation for units providing high quality services and demonstrating best practice.
Procedures are performed by endoscopists and supported by experienced trained endoscopy nurses and health care assistants.

If you’ve been referred to one of our Endoscopy departments, you could now be offered an appointment at a neighbouring hospital to reduce the time you have to wait.
Patients being referred to Hull, Scunthorpe, Castle Hill, or Grimsby hospitals, could be invited to attend for their procedure at any of the sites, depending on the current waiting times.

If you’ve been referred for a Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy or Gastroscopy you could be offered a slot sooner at a neighbouring hospital. However, it is only an invitation, anyone wanting to wait for an appointment at their local hospital can choose to do so.
We carry out around 1,800 procedures each month with services provided in integrated units with a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The majority of patients using the service are seen on a day-case basis. We also provide a service for adults admitted to the wards on a planned and unplanned basis, along with an out-of-hours Upper Gastrointestinal bleed service.
The units have three permanently equipped rooms at each site, providing a variety of procedures including:
- Oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD)
- Colonoscopy
- Gastroscopy
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography
- Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)
- Bronchoscopy
- Cystoscopy.
Where to find us
The Grimsby unit is located on B floor of the hospital and the Scunthorpe unit is located on the ground floor next to the main entrance. Both units have a waiting area and are open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 6pm.
